I made it to DAY 3 of the 31 Days of Blogging Challenge and I am combining this with Five Minute Friday this week. This weeks word is WRITE. So here goes nothing…
When I started this 31 Days project I thought it was a tad ridiculous. I go for periods of barely writing 2 posts a week. There was no way I was actually going to actually do it…I didn’t even write the intro post until the day before it started. Heck 3 years ago when I started blogging I never even mentioned my dad on the blog. Up until a few months ago I never really mentioned that my dad had passed away and if I did it was really subtle.
And now here I am full blown blogging and WRITING about him. Reading stories of how he inspired others. Writing how he inspired me even though I only knew him for 8 years of my short life and about 4 of those years let’s face it I wasn’t the best communicator.
When I started this challenge I didn’t really think I would even write that much. I figured I’d post a few pictures and write a few comments here and there and I would trudge through the month like a champ.
And then his FACEBOOK PAGE BLEW UP….I went from 10 likes to 70 likes in 3 days! And it wasn’t by spammers…it was REAL PEOPLE who knew him and learned from him…just like I did and have done and will do for the rest of my life.
Because if there is one thing I have learned from his death it’s that death isn’t about forgetting it’s about processing and people process by writing. When I first heard this I thought that was CRAZY. As yes I’m a writer (wow never thought I’d call myself that) and I like to blog and write but a lot of days I have to FORCE myself to do so and it’s not a natural process…especially when I have to write about hard things or tedious things.
