So this week October started…how’d that happen? And I did this crazy thing…I decided to participate in 31 Days of Blogging. So far so good. I’m 3 for 3. I’ll write #4 tonight after work. I’ve also decided to pick an insane and hard topic…my dad…that passed away…so yeah it’s going to be a LONG MONTH. But you see I’m an avoider so I kept avoiding this topic and I chose it this topic for the month to FORCE myself to deal with this monster.
This week I did two pinterest things. Thing #1:
Mandi told me about this a few weeks ago and I’ve also seen it on Pinterest. At first I was skeptical and thought there was NO WAY this would work. Earlier in the week I had taken out chicken and I needed to cook it so I decided to make soup and I decided to test this out to shred the chicken to put in the soup. Well problem #1 was we cannot find our flat piece 🙁 Well we have a flat piece but it is one that is supposed to scrape the bowl but it’s too tall for our mixer. I think it is made for the larger version of our mixer :(. So I guess I need a new flat piece for my mixer. HOWEVER instead I used the dough hook and I did successfully shred the chicken…whalala!
Pinterest thing #2:
After we ate the soup I put it in these muffin tins and froze it and put it in the freezer. I actually did this awhile ago and it worked really well and it tasted just as good when I defrosted it. I need to start doing this more often. I LOVE making “Grandma’s soup” (that is what we call it…it’s my gma’s recipe although I don’t think it’s anything fancy) but it takes FOREVER so we make a lot at once and then eat it over a few days.
RE: NUMBER 4. It’s interesting how far I’ve come. I never thought I’d ever openly talk about my Dad on this blog AT ALL. And now I’m just blogging away sharing my story. I guess that is what blogging is about. Sharing our stories and helping each other grow.
My bridesmaid dress came in this week!! YAY!! But I haven’t had a chance to drive up to the store to get it. My cousins bought their airline tickets this week so we know at least 4 people will be at this wedding! YAY! They are so excited about coming down and for the wedding. It’s going to be a fun wedding week!
Did anyone see the show, Masterchef Junior? It is a show about kid (ages 8-13) cooks. That show is crazy! These kids can cook!! When I was 8 years old I wasn’t even allowed to use the stove…oh how things have changed.

I’m 52 and I did use the stove at eight, under supervision. At 10 I was making french toast (and definitely not for the first time) and my mom had a saucepan of water on the burner behind me and I must have bumped it and sloshed water in the grease because I had grease spatters from head to belly. OUCH!

Well I probably was cooking supervised. I remember my Dad would let us help him make pancakes on the weekend. I wasn’t allowed to use the stove unsupervised or if my mom went out we could only use the microwave.
