Today’s 31 Days of Free Writes word is WORTH.
What is your worth? You hear that a lot now-a-days. I am pretty involved in the online business/blogging community and that word goes around ALL THE TIME. “Charge people what you are worth!”
Except what does that really mean? Your worth to you could be one number but no one else may think you are worth that much. I think it is a really hard thing to figure out about ourselves. You don’t want to over-value yourself so you get NO CLIENTS but then you don’t want to undersell yourself so you get too many clients and become overworked because you’re not making enough money without having a million clients.
Even if you don’t have an online business or any business this is an issue in other facts of life. If you work for an employer and want a raise we often don’t think we’re worth enough to get a raise and should wait until our boss does it for us.
If we are on a committee or volunteer somewhere we often don’t think we have enough talents to help out fully. We’re often scared to hear what others think of our value that we don’t give ourselves the benefit of the doubt.
I think we can learn a lot by reflecting on this word. Some of it we may not like and others we may like the challenge to work on knowing what we are worth to others both emotionally and financially.
