Another Friday another Five Minute Friday post. This week is bittersweet as Lisa Jo announces she will be handing off the linkup to Kate. I know all good things must come to an end and I’m glad the link-up will continue on a different blog. I have a link-up addiction and attachment that some weeks if I don’t participate I feel weird. I also have a bad habit of just blogging link-ups all week…oops.
GO
FINISH. This weekend the St. Anne Novena ends. It’s been an interesting 9 days if I can say the least. I started saying the novena in person with 7 other single bloggers at a blogger meetup I was at last weekend. Then I came home and had to finish the novena alone which was kind of sad.
For those of you that have never heard of a novena it is a set of prayers you say for 9 days with a special prayer intention. Many times they revolve around a saints feast day. St. Anne’s feast day is Saturday so the 9 days before her feast day you pray to her for a special intention. Every saint is a patron of something and St. Anne is the patron of relationships (new and old). You also can pray to her if you have trouble conceiving as she was very old when she had Mary [She is also Jesus’ grandmother]. Oh yeah and I’m named after her.
As her novena and my prayers for my future spouse come to a FINISH I’m just confused. Confused about what it all means. Confused about life in general. Confused about where god wants me in life. Confused about who the heck my future husband is and where he is and uh why isn’t he here yet?!!? Confused about when I will ever have children. I guess this weeks word should be CONFUSED and not FINISH.
But I will Finish the prayers and the novena and whatever outcome happens I know in my heart I’ll be ready for it!
STOP
St. Anne is the best! I wrote about her novena in my 7 quick takes post today. I talked to her for years and still do. I’m finishing the novena with you this weekend, virtually, though. Praying you meet your future husband soon!
Thanks! I’ve always known I was named after her but only recently have learned more about her. A TON of people are praying the novena this year 🙂

St. Anne’s feast snuck up on me this year. It wouldn’t be so embarrassing, but my daughter is named Anna and she has an Greek icon of St. Anna (as the Greeks call her) hanging next to the crucifix from her namesake great-grandmother Anna. I guess I have one more day, so I’ll pray for my daughter. I’ll think she’ll overlook my slight and lift up my prayers together with her daughter the Blessed Virgin to Jesus. Amen. And may God bless you too Beth, and and may St. Anne and St. Elizabeth both watch over you.
I’m also named after St. Elizabeth (but St. Elizabeth Ann Seton) too funny!!

I didn’t say which St. Elizabeth 😉 (But yeah, I meant the one from Luke’s Gospel). Elizabeth Ann Seton is a great name-saint! First U.S. native-born citizen saint and a cradle Episcopalian turned Catholic (like me!)
Yes…my mom actually prayed in a St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church that was near her work when she was trying to get pregnant so that is how I was named after her but her story is also really cool!

Oh honey, I’m a married confused person – but about my career, or lack thereof. I’m going to be praying for you when I do the Novena to St. Dominic at the end of the month! And your future husband is probably wondering what’s taking you so long!

Glad I’m not alone! He probably does. I found a journal from 2011ish of letters I wrote to my future husband last week…it was interesting to read through them. When I do meet him I want to find out what he was doing all those years I wrote to him 🙂

Hi my name is Natalie and I am a link-up addict too. Also I am sure you will look back at this confusing time in a week, a month, or many years and be like ooh it makes sense now. Not that that is of any comfort what so ever but something to remember.
I know! I look back to my high school and college days and think…ooooh that’s what was going on?!!? And I’m sure in 10 years I’ll do the same thing about this time in life.

Praying for your future spouse, what a wonderful example for others. I pray for the future spouses of my children. Pray, hope and don’t worry as Padre Pio would say because God hears your persistent prayers and He will answer them in His own time. Trust!

I picked up the habit in college and loved it and have kept it up ever since.

You are so young still! He’s out there! I’ve always believed that our “one” (yes, I’m a hopeless romantic, lol) is only meant to find us when we aren’t paying attention. It always seems to me that the best things in life sneak up on us. That could just be me though. Happy Five Minute Friday 🙂

Yeah I’m a hopeless romantic and try to believe the same thing 🙂

I love doing novenas. I think the great thing is how it can change us even if we don’t always get a right-away answer. Hoping Mr. Right and you cross paths and meet soon!
