Happy Feast of St. Therese! I LOVE St. Therese. I’m so glad that Lydia from Flourish in Hope is hosting this link-up. My post is a two parter. The first part is about my relationship with St. Therese and then the second part is a way that I learned more about her and meditated on some of her quotes.
When I was getting ready to be confirmed I did the usual thing kids do. Look at all the names they liked/wished they had. I came across Theresa and told my mom how there were a lot of St. Theresa’s. She told me that my dad loved St. Therese the little flower and how he always prayed to her. So I started to read about her and I loved how she did a lot in a little way.
As a way to stay connected to my dad who had passed away I chose St. Therese of Lisieux as my confirmation Saint. And ever since then I have prayed to her and learned more and more about her.
Two years ago I did a whirlwind tour of Europe. When we were planning the France portion of our trip I made sure we figured out a way to visit Lisieux, France. One day while we were in France we took a two-hour train ride from Paris into the countryside of France and visited this teeny town of Lisieux.
It just amazed me how THOUSANDS of people visit/pilgrimage this little town every year because of this young saint. The Cathedral is HUGE and built on a hill so it’s the first thing you see when you get off the train.
Every year I pray her novena right around her feast day. I always hope that I will receive roses but alas I never do but that is okay. I sometimes feel we treat novena’s as this catholic magic. I tried convincing my fiance that St. Therese told me he should buy me flowers today but I don’t think he bought it. Oh well.
Anyway so back to my confirmation saint. I have a lot of friends that I have met over the years that share St. Therese as my Confirmation Saint. I feel like it’s a way to connect with other Catholics. One person is a friend that I have known since birth. We ended up losing contact between ages 10-16 but have since reconnected. When we reconnected I remember seeing a St. Therese display in her room one time when I was visiting her and I asked her about it. She told me that was a confirmation gift since that was her saint. I told her that she was my confirmation saint as well! And I remember both of just thinking wow we haven’t talked to each other in years and we both chose the same confirmation saint!
Now years later I have learned that she is a very popular saint and MANY girls choose her but at the time I didn’t know a lot of Catholics and didn’t realize how popular she was.
I recently started a new Bullet Journal and I was going through all the notes I had of things I have done and several of them are going to be made into blog posts. So here is the first one.
Back in June, I went up to New York for my cousin’s wedding. It was a whirlwind of a trip to say the least! When we were planning it, it didn’t seem like it was going to be that crazy but it ended up being way crazier than we had planned. So play along with my Bullet Journal Notes/poem of such from the long weekend and I added a slideshow of photos as well.
*side note* when I left for this trip I had been engaged for less than a week! So it was kind of crazy to see family so soon after getting engaged. It was fun though and gave me a lot of things to make small talk about.
1 RENTAL CAR
1 AIRPORT ADVENTURE (our return flight was at 6am and we had to be at the airport at 3-4am so we just didn’t get a hotel room)
1 CEMETERY VISIT
1 GROUND ZERO MEMORIAL MUSEUM VISIT
2 UBER RIDES
MULTITUDES OF DELICIOUS FOOD INCLUDING – CHINATOWN, DINERS, BBQ, AND ITALIAN FOOD
AND 1 BEAUTIFUL WEDDING.
I made it back for another Currently Link-Up! I didn’t realize that the 5 topics you blog about change every month so that is something fun to look forward to. I made this fun little graphic in canva for this month.
Reading: I recently joined a Catholic Women’s Book Club. I contacted the person in charge at the perfect time because they had just finished a book. We are currently reading Pope Francis’ Joy of Love so far it’s really good but you can only read a few pages at a time because there is just so much good information there.
I am also reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I’m not that far into it and wasn’t sure I’d like reading a play but it makes for a fast read. It would be cool to go see it in person.
Trying: To not overanalyze everything and let all the wedding details stress me out. Trust me that is easier said than done. The more that I think about it it’s not really stress…it’s more I have all these thoughts and things in my head and I can’t turn my brain off.
Hoping: I know I’m in Florida but being able to take evening walks without being totally miserable would be nice. I’m also hoping to knock off a few weather things this week. I have appointments for NFP Classes, Engagement Photos, and Flowers this week.
Decorating: HA my DECORATING is the same as last months CREATING. I’m in the middle of switching to a new Bullet Journal. I am also decorating it with stickers, stamps, and pretty pens. There is a local ink-stamp store that is closing (they are retiring) and everything is 50% off so I will be headed there this weekend to find some new stamps.
Funny story I posted about it on facebook and my sister told me she wanted to go. I didn’t know she was into stamps and she said for 50% off I could be! LOL
To-Do Listing: Like I said in Decorating I am working on setting up a new Bullet Journal. One of the things I’ve been doing is going through and moving over some of my older to-do lists. I am trying to make sure I’ve actually done all the tasks I have written down and if I haven’t I’m writing them down in a new list. I’m also prepping for Write 31 Days in October because I’m insane and always have to try and blog that challenge.
- I made several doctor appointments I’ve been avoiding.
- My pastor and the priest marrying us went on sabbatical to Rome. So we are getting many prayers!
- That is really all that is going on with me. I feel super busy and not busy all at the same time.

Wow I haven’t done a quick takes since MAY! It’s been a BUSY summer and that’s an understatement. If you read my last post that will catch you up on my crazy summer.
The main HUGE thing that happened back in June was I got ENGAGED!! And we’re in the middle of planning an April wedding. Eventually, I will write up some wedding planning and engagement posts but until then here is a photo of our engagement. He proposed at the bench where we fist met in person for the first time. *AWWWW*
*Props to the random guy that saw the engagement and came over and took our picture*
I saw this image shared in a facebook group a few weeks ago and just died laughing. Really it is how I feel most of the time when it comes to google searches, SEO, and hashtags. You need to make sure you include all the different ways to write the word or phrase so that people can actually find your stuff! So annoying.
I have some ranting to do.
A new Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream shop opened in town and it’s great. Well, whenever people talk about it they are very negative. They are always saying stuff like, “Why would you go there? It’s so expensive just buy the ice cream in the grocery store!” But my thing is that is not an even comparison. The ice cream in the grocery store is ALWAYS going to be way cheaper than an actual ice cream shop. There is another ice cream shop a few doors down from Ben & Jerry’s and the prices are practically the same. I just don’t get people sometimes. Really you should be telling people to go to Dairy Queen instead of Ben and Jerry’s…but you know that would be too easy.

People never cease to surprise me. I was listening to an interview of some bridal dress consultants of a dress shop earlier in the week. The one piece of advice they said was to not pick up your dress the day before your wedding.
I just thought WHAT?!!? Who would wait that last minute to pick up their dress?!!? Like what if something was wrong with the dress? You’d be in big trouble. I take it this happens more than you think that they mentioned it in the interview.
I do remember when my boss’ daughter was getting married with everything she had going on she forgot to pick up her mother of the bride dress until the week of the wedding but I feel like that isn’t that big of a deal because if something was wrong she could have last minute found a dress off the rack that fit without alterations.
Last week I got the strangest “marketing spam” email. It wasn’t an email like normal to guest post on my blog. It was an email giving me “ideas” of blog topics I could write about. Uhm what?!!? You think I don’t know what to write about on my own blog?!!? I sent a snarky response asking if they wanted to sponsor the post and pay me. HA. Of course they didn’t respond but you never know.
When I started blogging in 2011 several of the first bloggers I followed were all pregnant. Now all their babies are starting school! I’ve never met any of these bloggers but I’ve followed them for years and I’m like no how are their babies not babies anymore?!!? Man I’m doomed when I have kids of my own.
This week I joined a Young Adult Catholic Women’s book club and I’m really looking forward to participating. En-route to the group I happened to pass the Trader Joe’s that is in town. It’s not new but it’s in a weird area that I never go. I went the back way to the meeting from work so happened to pass by and I had time to kill so I finally checked it out. Man I wanted to buy #allthethings. I’m going to have to go back when I’m going home afterwards because there were TONS of frozen food items that I wanted to get. I loved their selection of Asian Foods. Right now I’m loving the instant miso soup.
