I made it to DAY 2 of the 31 Days of Blogging Challenge!!
So last night when I finished typing this we had 64 likes on the facebook page…it keeps going up as now we have 70!! I am really impressed with all of my Dad’s former students, friends, and colleagues. Several of them have posted pictures they had of him. These kids were all in high school in the early 90s…before smart phones and camera phones. Which means they have all these photos either scanned into their computers as that is the new thing to do (we’re in the process of doing it) or they knew where these pictures were in boxes or photo albums at their houses and got them out. Maybe I move too much and maybe I don’t take care of my photos enough but I have NO IDEA where any of my photos from high school are. I’m not sure I even have any…I have this really bad habit when I move of throwing a TON of stuff away that I probably shouldn’t…oh well.
Today I received several really nice emails from former students. One student wrote about how he went with my Dad on a trip to Europe (he was one of the chaperone’s). He said he was sure his mother would say no way but he asked her anyway and she thought it was a GREAT IDEA. He loved the trip so much he later studied in Florence while in college and for a year as a grad student and many other trips. I thought this letter was really cool because in a way the same thing has happenned to me. I always loved traveling and want to see everything! I guess it’s hereditary.
My mom has been somewhat fascinated by this influx of visitors, emails, pictures, and stories. She told me she knew it wouldn’t take much to get it started.
Today I updated the Grief Resources page with some information another youth minister had shared from Center for Loss when they had a teen pass away at her parish. I wished resources like these had been around 20 years ago when my mom was looking for them. When my mom was looking all she could find was resources for divorce which is just a little bit different.
I also put a video I found on someone else’s memorial site. She also had this video up but my sister told me to take it down as she felt it was offensive since it had curse words in it but I’ll share it here instead.
Thank you to The Nester for hosting, head over to her site to read more 31 Days of Blogging challenges and go here if you are just finding my link-up and want to catch up.
