23. How did the first part of Lent go for you?
This year has been a weird Lent. I know it has been Lent but it hasn’t felt like Lent. I think it’s partly because right now in my life I’m in a really good place emotionally. I’m not sad, mopey, or depressed like I usually am during Lent. And I am not complaining. I love that I am finally in a good place and happy about life it’s just weird for Satan to not be attacking me this year. It is a nice break though.
27. Are there any special events in your parish/diocese that you have participated in this lent?
In my diocese for the last 3 or 4 years they have held it’s annual Eucharistic Congress during Lent. The years I have been able to go I have really enjoyed it. They always have an adult track, a spanish track, a kids track, a teen track, and a young adult track. Depending on the year I attended or volunteered on different tracks. This year I plan on going on Friday evening for the Young Adult track.
I’m really looking forward to hearing the two speakers they have lined up: Chris Stefanick and Leah Darrowch. Leah was supposed to speak last year but she was pregnant and due around this time and rescheduled to this year. I listen to her on the radio often and I think she is pregnant again #catholicproblems but obviously she isn’t due for awhile and is able to come speak.
They always end the evening with praise and worship and adoration with the Bishop. It’s one of the few spiritual events I’m able to participate in and am always glad to attend.
In the past I have volunteered in the Kids Track but was unable to this year. My mom is having knee surgery during Holy Week (she knows how to suffer holy week) and next week we are actually moving to a place that will be easier on her knee. Our current apartment is on the 2nd floor and we’re moving to a townhouse that is mostly on the first floor.
HEADS UP: One of next weeks prompts is to do something from Meg’s list of 100 Things to Do for Lent and write about it. Posting it here so you can take a look before next week and maybe try a few of these for the rest of lent to write about next week.
Looking forward to reading everyone’s posts!
