Here we are at Day 12 of the 31 Days of Blogging Challenge.
Today was a really busy day. I went to our diocese’s Catechist Ministry Day (that I have attended several times). But it got me thinking about my Dad’s love for our Catholic Faith. He was a very devout Catholic and was constantly sharing the faith with us and everyone around him. He used to pray about everything. I can remember he used to say this prayer before we put the Angel on top of the Christmas Tree. Most people find this odd but it’s one of the few things I do remember. I think one of the reasons why I have such a strong faith is because of his love for the church.
My mom told me a story about when he was single or they were first dating he had fallen asleep on the couch and some teenagers broke into his apartment trying to rob him. He woke up and just started praying the rosary. The kids were REALLY confused and startled. He told them all he had was $20 in his wallet and gave it to them. When they asked him what he was doing he told him he was praying the rosary for them because it seemed like they needed the prayers. They basically took the cash and left or at least that is all my mom knows about that story.
I know it’s wrong but I always thought that story was funny. Not that he got robbed/broken into but that he just randomly started praying and the “robbers” got SUPER confused and didn’t know what to do and just left. Shows you how the power of prayer works.
