Last weekend we took a trip to Orlando for my birthday! Walt Disney World and Disneyland were opened 24 hours (from 6am-6am) for Leapday. My mom had to work on Wednesday so we left after we cleaned up from Religious Ed and got to Magic Kingdom around 1am.
People were complaining it was crowded but 40 minutes was the longest line we waited on! I guess we went through the park in the right order. I think 80% of the people were in line for character meet and greets and enjoying the entertainment.
I finally saw a friend from high school that works on Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom and he gave us Free Fast Passes. Although it was kind of pointless because there was no line (it’s the thought that counts).
Your text here. These are some nice pictures I took from the Ferry on our way back to our car at 6am. I have friends that were at Magic Kingdom at 6am Wednesday morning and they said it was really cool because there was FOG everywhere and around the castle. Not too much fog on Thursday morning but still pretty pictures.
The newest trend to hit the Magic Kingdom is a game called The Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom. The premise of the game is that Hades and all the evil villains have taken over the Magic Kingdom and Merlin needs YOUR help to save the Magic Kingdom! Yes it sounds corny but it is 10x cooler than it sounds. Every day you go to the park you get a key and 5 “magic cards” which are basically disney-fied Pokemon cards. So far I have about 17 cards (you get doubles), there are 70 cards altogether.
When you check-in at the Firehouse on main street they give you your cards, a key and a map (of all the portals). You put the key up to the portal and it plays through a screen and eventually tells you to “cast a spell” using one of your cards. [I could write a whole post on this game] Below are some pictures of what the game looks line in action.

I FINALLY had a DoleWhip. On all the Disney blogs I’ve been reading everyone talks about this desert called a “Dole Whip.” I finally had one and it was DELICIOUS! I even found a recipe to make my version here.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago we are moving. We are officially moving at the end of the month and we have a place to move to! Thanks to Jen @ ::Meditatio:: for recommending we go to stores during stocking time to get boxes. We were at Walmart Friday night and there were a TON of boxes in the aisles and they let us take all of them. They were happy for us to take them off their hands (they only have to crush them and throw them away). We have been collecting boxes slowly hopefully we’ll have enough. I really hate packing and unpacking.

Glad I could help. 🙂 I’ve moved a number of times in the last few years and have learned a thing or two.

I must admit I clicked on your post first after reading Jen’s post at CD solely because of the Mickey photo linked. We’re getting ready to move to Jacksonville soon (and I mentioned WDW in my quick takes today, too). Holy heavens, Mickey and Minnie in pajamas! I totally would have stood in that line (with all three kids) for 100 minutes. Good luck with packing. The Navy actually “packs” for us, but there’s still a lot of work to be done in preparation. And we will likely end up packing some stuff ourselves. But, kind of nice that someone else will be wrapping up the 17,543 items in our kitchen cabinets.

Man I wish I could afford to pay someone to pack for me! We are moving in 2 weeks and haven’t done a thing and I start work Monday..this shall be fun.
We just moved to the Jacksonville area in June when my mom got a job at the Cathedral. When she was interviewing for the job she told me “we can go to disney world all the time!” It’s crazy I’ve already been 12 times since January. I want to go back to get more sorcerer cards! I might drive down one weekend after we move.
Totally jealous of your Leap Day trip! I can’t wait to go back to Disney World. And that picture of Mickey and Minnie in pajamas is awesome! Love it!
Glad that you had such a fun trip. 🙂

That’s awesome you can get free boxes at Walmart. I’ll have to keep that in mind before I move in May (ugh that’s only 2 months away).
Your trip looked like fun! I love Disney!

Again, I am SO jealous you got to go to Disney24! I would have been there if we lived even 10 miles closer! Ha! Maybe not.
When we went in January, they were testing out the Sorcerer’s Game and we kept seeing all these people with maps. We were confused but didn’t bother to ask what it was. Sounds kind of fun!
I’ve never had a Dole Whip, either. I don’t know why. I guess I always go for the soft pretzels and cookie with ice cream in it!
So fun! Good luck with your move. Prayers that everything goes smoothly!

yeah the Dole Whip is just flavored Ice Cream. I’m not really sure what the “fuss” is about but it was good. The at home version looks easy to make though I might try.
Yeah I have friends that are locals and have been “testing” the game trying to collect all 70 cards. Maybe after we move I’ll drive down to get more cards.
Disney looks like so much fun! Can’t wait to take my kids there someday.
Good luck with the move! 🙂

Thanks! It is! It’s fun without kids too 😉
What a great trip! The best gift you can give yourself is ton purge before you pack. Check out Flylady – she has an entire set of instructions on how to prepare to pack. It can help you not get overwhelmed. Good luck!
Thanks for the info! We just moved here in June so we had gotten rid of a TON of stuff. But I’m sure I’ll find more stuff to throw away!
OMG those cards look amazing! I’m totally doing that! Do you have the Eeyore one?
They are!! The same artist that created the Magic cards created the disney ones. I do have the Eyore card 🙂
