Welcome to Monday's Couponing Tips. Today we are going to talk about Couponing Abbreviations. The first thing you will notice about couponing is that there are a TON of abbreviations when people are talking about couponing. Today we are going to go through what they all mean.
TYPES OF COUPONS LINGO
$/$$ – Dollars off when you spend XX Dollars (ex. $5 off when you spend $25 before coupons – I always give this coupon first)
$1/1 – One dollar off 1 item
$1/2 – One dollar off 2 items
BLINKIES – In store coupons that come out of a machine and "blink"
BOGO – Buy one get one free
CPN or Q – Coupon
Cat or Catalina – which are coupons that print out after you pay (like Walgreens RR, or at grocery stores this happens when you buy certain products)
eCOUPON – Coupons that can be uploaded to your store loyalty card and are taken off automatically at the register.
GC – Giftcard
GM – General Mills Sunday Insert
IP – Internet Printable Coupons
MIR – Mail In Rebate
MFR or MQ – Manufacturer's Coupon
PG or P&G – Proctor & Gamble Sunday Insert
PEELIE – Coupon that is found as a sticker on certain products
RP – Redplum Sunday Insert
SS – Smart Source Sunday Insert
STACKING – Using a Store Coupon with a Manufacturer Coupon
TEARPAD – a pad found in the store near the product (hard to find)
STORE SPECIFIC ABBREVIATIONS
ECB – CVS's Extra Care Bucks that you earn when you buy certain products
RR – Register Rewards (Walgreens reward program that prints like a catalina)
MISCELLANEOUS COUPONING ABBREVIATIONS
BTFE – Box Tops for Education (certain products box tops can be donated to schools)
CRT – Cash Register Tape (coupons that print at the bottom of your receipt like CVS’ ECB)
OOP – Out of Pocket
REGIONAL – Coupon or sale may vary by location
NED – No Expiration Date
WYB – When You Buy (Ex. When you buy Toilet Paper you get Paper Towels Free)
YMMV – Your Milage May Vary (Depending on your store/region/prices you may not get the same exact deal – ex BOGO for me 1 item may cost $3.99 for you 1 item may cost $5.99)
