Welcome back to my blog….does it look different? Well if you pay attention I quickly jumped from Quick Take 37 to 84. I’m MAGIC! Not really like I said a few weeks ago I’m getting rid of my Catholic Couponer blog so I added the posts I wanted to keep to this blog. Since I used to post Quick Takes over there I changed all the numbers on my Quick Takes to be accurate. Yes I am super OCD like that and spent WAY too many hours Wednesday night exporting and importing posts and pages, changing post titles and making this blog look pretty. FYI in this process I noticed that I totally skipped Quick Take 24!! I also added some stuff up at the menu bar as well (go take a look around). In the next few weeks I’ll eventually be shutting down that blog altogether and then the real fun will begin when I have to fix all the broken links. If you have written a guest post for me in the past 2 years (wow I can’t believe I’ve been blogging that long!) I will be emailing you the new links to your posts so you can fix them on your own blog (if you wish – no pressure). And now that I have told you all way too much boring information about the backgrounds of my blogs I will try to make the next 6 Quick Takes more interesting (no promises).
Today I am attending a Theology of the Body for Middle Schoolers training that my diocese is hosting. After all the stuff that has gone on with the HSS mandate and birth control and hearing WAY too many stories from people that were never taught what the church teaches on Sex and Birth Control I had been praying and thinking about what we need to do in terms of catechesis to the students I work with at church. Then last Spring I saw an advertisement for this training on facebook (go figure) and asked my mom what she thought of it. She said she’d look at the flyer but then never said whether she wanted to go or wanted me to go. Then a few weeks later she informed me that she registered me for the training and was able to use money from her budget for me to go. So to make a long story short I’m at this training today and I’m hoping to learn a lot and implement parts of this program into the Middle School Program this year. I’m actually really looking forward to seeing what they say and even meeting new people. BONUS: Last week our pastor asked my mom “what we were doing about Theology of the Body” and my mom told him we had people going to training and he was very pleased to see we were one step ahead of him! Brownie points for us!
My car is on the fritz. Sometimes it doesn’t like to start. We just got a new battery not even 6 months ago. We have a feeling it’s the starter 🙁 The car is over 10 years old and has over 150,000 miles on it and has had tons of repairs on it. I’m hoping it lasts a few more months but I may end up getting a new car sooner than I was expecting to. I don’t know what I am going to do when I buy a house buying a car seems so overwhelming…every website shows different types of cars at different prices with different features with different reviews. It’s been hard to narrow down what I want. But I want a good reliable car that is going to last me a good 5-10 years or until I have kids and will need a larger car. I’m really leaning towards a Toyota Corolla. But I’m kind of biased on that as that was the make and model of my very first car when I turned 16 and I LOVED IT and I really MISS IT!!
So I am all set to attend Allume!! I can’t wait! The more I read about the conference the more excited I get. This past week I read that they have a Prayer Room at the conference you can go to. I don’t know if I’ll use it but just that it’s there is really comforting to me. I’m going to be rooming with Andi, Amy, and Cindy and that is a little scary for this introvert but there is a huge cycling convention in town the same weekend and all the hotels are booked!! I think it’s good for me to get out of my comfort zone once in awhile 🙂
The past two weeks I have participated in the Not Alone Series. I’ve been meaning to participate from the beginning when I first saw the link-up but kept forgetting about it until last week. I’ve enjoyed writing for it so far. I secretly like writing about my struggles and triumphs about being single and reading other stories from people that are having similar struggles. I linked up about Envy and Challenge Week so far! Looking forward to the next week!
So a few weeks ago Jen tagged me in her 11 Things Meme (for the 2nd time) and I finally got around to doing it a few weeks ago. I tagged some blogging friends and it’s been fun to see the Meme go around my blogging circles and learn more about some of my favorite bloggers!
Recipes…how do you organize them? For awhile I had them in this binder but they kept getting dirty or ripped or my binder would get full. I was reading on the You Need A Budget forum about a girl that used a program or Mac App on her apple computer and ipad/iphone to organize her recipes. I kind of like that idea. I have pinterest boards but sometimes to get to the actual recipe you have to click 10 times. At one point I started to use evernote and ziplist as my recipe thing but kind of fell off the bandwagon. This is something I want to work on especially as I see people sharing recipes on facebook that I want to try eventually.

So glad you are going to Allume. The tickets sold out when I discovered the conference. I have only blogged since February of this year and took me a while to find the organization even though it is my back yard.
Pray God will let me go if it His will. I really want to go to the conference. I live in SC too. 🙂 Nice meeting you by the way.

Me 2! I wanted to go last year but I just couldn’t swing it and airfare to PA was like $400 a person!! When they moved it to SC I was really excited b/c it’s only 5 hours away so I can drive!! YAY!!
2 words: google drive for recipes! Access it on your smart phone, download the drive to your computer and find it on any internet connection.
OOOH that is a great idea!! I currently have dropbox I use all the time! I also just got evernote food on my ipad might look into using that more for recipes.
I use a binder for my recipes. I don’t know that I would keep them on a computer. My neighbor lost her mother when she was 5 and she has a ziploc bag filled with her mother’s handwritten recipes. They mean so much to her, to have her mother’s handwriting. My binder has some printed and some handwritten recipes. I have written personal notes on the printed ones though, like, “made this for Chris’ 40th birthday dinner.”

I love that! When my grandma passed away we found a box of recipes she collected. Most of them were recipes she found in magazines and cut out others were hand written. I asked my Aunt if I could have the box and she gave it to me…still haven’t done much with them…
That is awesome that your mom is one step ahead of your pastor regarding ToB! I am attending a general session and teaching H.S. ToB at the end of August.

Awesome!! The training was awesome! I’m really looking forward to using the program this year!
I’ve been using Pinterest. I pin anything that looks interesting but if I actually made it I’ve got a board for things I’ve actually tried. Honestly though, what I use the most is google–I search for a recipe, print it, try it and then either add the recipe to a binder or just pin it to the “tried” board.

Yeah that is basically what I do now but I’m bad about organizing them into a binder so I feel bad for constantly printing recipes and throwing them away. Sometimes I’ll pull them up on my ipad if it’s not a messy recipe.
Getting a car can definitely be overwhelming… But I’m a huge fan of my Corolla!
