I haven’t done this in a few weeks. Lately words have been hard. I look at the word and my mind goes blank. 5 Minutes may seem short but it’s REALLY long sometimes when you like to overanalyze and your mind goes blank. Trying it out this week…
GO
BLOOM. What comes to mind when you hear the word bloom? For me…it’s FLOWERS. Tons of beautiful flowers. I can remember as kids my dad planting bulbs in the garden one winter and he said in the spring we would have TONS of pretty flowers. The winter went on and spring came…did we have flowers? Uh..no…we had green stems that came up from the ground. And every year after that for the next 5ish years these green stems would come up to remind us of the bulbs we planted that never bloomed. It was actually kind of sad because we were all so excited about the pretty flowers.
What is it about flowers that people love? I’ve never understood it to be honest. A few weeks ago someone asked me what my favorite flower was. I had NO IDEA what to say. I really don’t pay attention to the different kinds of flowers and really I think they are all pretty. Don’t get me wrong I like flowers. I think they are pretty, brighten up a room and when someone gives them to you it makes you feel special and loved and all that other mushy fun stuff but it’s just this interesting concept. Why do we give flowers to someone we love and not something else? I guess I’m getting a little bit philosophical for this post.
In the end it’s all about making others feel special. Finding out what they love and like to make them feel happy because if they are happy then you’ll be happy. And this ends the most mushiest post I have written.
STOP
Hey- I like mushy and enjoyed reading your post. As for our tulips, the last couple of years have been mostly green stems, too. Have a great weekend! If you want to link up at authorgroupie.blogspot.com, I started Writing Workshop Wednesdays this week.
Thanks for the comment! Glad we aren’t alone with our Tulips. I will look at your link-up!

I love flowers because of the stories they tell – whose garden they came from – like my grandfather like white azaleas, my grandmother had spider’s knot in her yard, my aunt has yellow evening primroses, and my cousin bergamont – and they’ve all found a way into my garden:) Plus, they all smell better than a car load of soccer shoes!

I never thought of that but it makes sense. My aunt planted these flowers at my dad/grandparents grave YEARS ago and they never grew for years (she didn’t think they would since she doesn’t have a green thumb)…then one spring out of the blue they FINALLY GREW!! She bought us all crosses with the flowers on them because she thinks it was god. Then the maintenance people mowed over them or something or we got a frost and they died! It was such a crazy story…but I still remember it 5 years later!

I love flowers…but I have NOT a green thumb…more like a black thumb. 🙂 But boy do I love them. 🙂 And yes, I feel good and special when I get them. Am I being mushy? Oh well… 🙂 Loved reading this.
I think I’ve always been kind of whatever about flowers because I never had a cute boy bring them to me….if someone (especially a cute boy) was sending them to me I’d be all for it. I was talking to a friend about this and she’s all “My favorite kind of flower is the kind that comes in the mail….” HAHA
When I was little we were pretty good about planting fruits and vegetables and keeping up but not so much flowers….
