Can you believe that LENT is already upon us? Neither can I. Last year during Lent I colored in this Lent Calendar. I meant to post this last lent…but yeah it never happened as I could never get my scanner to work. But I got this from Praying in Color.
The author is so nice. I even wrote a comment and told her that my calendar didn’t come out nearly as nice as hers as she wrote different words and pictures in the boxes and I just colored them in like a Kindergartener and she told me that’s what is awesome about prayer there is no right way to do it. I thought that was an awesome perspective. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in we have to do things this way and it can’t change that I’m wrong and need to mix things up sometimes. So here is what my calendar from last year looks like. I colored each box a different color and labeled it the day of Lent it was.
This year she has 3 different templates for LENT. One is like the one above (Hexagons), another is a calendar (literally), and her newest one is a PATH. I love the PATH because it shows the path of Lent that we will be traveling. I am going to be doing the PATH calendar and I hope that you will join me along the way as we “Color” our way through Lent. This would also be a really good exercise for a young child to do who needs the physical and visual element in their prayer to make Lent meaningful.
If you go to her website she has some examples of how she and other people used the calendars last year. She also gives good examples of how to use them by writing in the boxes people you are praying for or words you are praying about.
What a great idea!
