So everyone has been writing about goals and words and things that they are doing in 2014. Yeah I haven’t really done that yet…because well because I have been lazy (if we’re being honest here). I have thought of some goals but nothing really all that concrete. A lot of people have been posting WORDS. I thought of a word last week and mentioned it in my Quick Takes on Friday but haven’t written a long post about it so maybe I’ll use this post to do just that!
My word for 2014 is GOOOO!
Yes GO! Jen @ Conversion Diary is my word twin because we’re awesome.Β I have chosen this word because in 2014 I have a lot of things planned. A lot of things that I have put off for MANY years. A lot of things that are going to make me GET UP AND GO!
In 2014 I am going to do a lot of traveling. I will be GOING to Greece, Germany (just for a layover), Italy, France, and London. I’ve been waiting to take this trip for close to 10 years! I am so excited about this adventure! I’ve wanted to go to Greece since I first read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books and the 2004 Summer Olympics.
As a Catholic I’ve always wanted to go to Rome, Assisi, and Lisiuex. I want to GO and see all the things I’ve read about and learned about since I was a little girl. I’m going to take chances, be adventurous and GO and see the world!
Another thing I will be doing this summer is I’m going to the iRetreat Conference at Hershey Park! I’ve heard great things about this conference for several years and last summer I was able to get a ticket for $100 when the conference was announced. I’ve been reading a lot about bloggers that have turned their blogs into businesses and are making 5x what I’ve ever made in my life. This fascinates me. The keynote speakers at the conference did just this and I’m looking forward to learning more about how I could possibly do this as it’s really fascinating. I’d love to be able to do it and not have to get one of those “real jobs.”
So another GO is I’m going to take chances and risks and see what God has in store for me in terms of my career. I’m also thinking about relocating to a place with seasons. I have several job alerts out there so we’ll see what happens when the time comes.
I didn’t travel much the last 2 years and obviously I’m making up for it this summer as I’ll be doing A LOT of traveling! Because after those two trips in July I’ll be joining Jen and Morgan in Savannah for our NAS Meet-up!! I’m super excited for this! I love meeting blog friends in real life and no joke a week before they announced their meet-up I thought..I wish there was a blogging conference/event/meet-up for single bloggers…and then they announced this trip!
Some non-travel goals I have for this year are:
- Become more ORGANIZED (I used to be better at this the last few years I’m constantly drowning in messes/paper).
- Have better focus during mass – I want to start reflecting on the readings/homily after mass each week to help with this.
- Cross off more items on my 30 Before 30 List.
- Get more involved in some meetup groups or church groups or groups in general to meet more people.
I think 2014 is going to be a great year! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me and everyone! I love the start of a new year everything seems so fresh and new again! We’ll see how many of these goals I accomplish but I’m going to have fun trying!
See you next week…our topic is BEAUTY!
Hi Beth Anne! It’s nice to meet you! π I’m so excited for you about your Europe trip!! I JUST got back from France and England this past Saturday, so I wanted to comment!!! It was my first time, too! Are you traveling with friends or family or alone? I went to Paris, Lisieux, and London. It was funny because I expected Lisieux to be really quaint and everyone to be ‘holy.’ LOL. But it was a typical town despite the fact that St. Therese’s remains are there! I wanted to shout from the housetops, hee hee.
Anyway, bon voyage!!

Thanks! I am going to Greece with my college on a short study abroad program and then I am meeting my mom at our connection and we’re going to do Italy, France, and London together. It’s going to be fun we’re really looking forward to it!
AHHHH!!! π You are going to have an amazing 2014 it sounds!
I AM SO JEALOUS YOU ARE GOING TO GREECE!!!!! I have wanted to go there for SO long and fell even more in love with that place since the Sisterhood books, too. π
France IS AMAZING!!! Also jealous about that. When you are in Paris, check in with the sisters at Sacre Cour because YOU CAN STAY THE NIGHT AND SPEND TIME WITH JESUS IN ADORATION. No joke. For a few Euros, you pick a time to spend in front of Jesus and then you get a little cot in the back. Oh my gosh. Amazing. Seriously. Look into it. Lisieux is just incredible, as well.
And Rome… Assisi. I mean… wow. You have a seriously awesome trip coming up. So excited for you all of your travels!
Annnnd, I’m done.

I am super excited about Greece. I just happenned to see it under “news” about this study abroad program when I logged into my classes and was all OMG that sounds awesome! Thanks for the info about the sisters I looked it up and that sounds like an awesome experience. It looks like they have an “overnight pilgrimage” starting with mass at 10pm…that’s my kind of pilgrimage/retreat! I told my mom we have to do that one night! She isn’t much for adoration and even said it sounded cool.
Hi Beth Anne!
How awesome is it that you have so many fun trips ahead of you!!! π I have never been to Europe, so maybe I can live vicariously through you if you blog about your trips when you return…so cool!! I smiled when I read the Greece/Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants thing because that is honestly why I want to go to Greece! It looked so beautiful in the movie plus…Costas!! π
And I just checked out your “30 Before 30” list – great idea! I live in the Midwest if you ever needed someone to take you to the Mall of America π It’s such a ridiculous mall…theme park, tons and tons of stores, food courts up the wazoo, but also near the Mall of America is St. Paul/Minneapolis which has some beautiful cathedrals! π
Anyways…happy belated new year! lol, I felt like I needed to end with some sort of a seasonal greeting π
Thanks! This is my first trip to Europe so I’m super excited..it’s been a long time in the making! I know I keep thinking maybe I will meet a cute Greek boy haha..a girl can dream…
Oh my goodness all the travel sounds AMAZING!! I applaud you for fitting that all in such a short amount of time. Also that iRetreat sounds interesting especially considering one of my best friends lives there. Finally, focusing at Mass is always going to be a challenge. Two suggestions I have though are seeking the Holy Spirit (duh!) and rather than taking the preparation of alter time as an intermission and whispering a comment to the person next to you or thinking about what you are going to eat for dinner use that time as a profound prayer experience. Place yourself up on that alter so that it can be transformed into who the Lord wants you to be. It is said that this is the time when our angels walk up to the gift with everything we have to offer Him. Offer Him your fears, your future, you good deeds, your love, your sins, the times you fail. Lay it all down on that alter and he can transform you.
Yeah we actually cut some stuff out of our trip HA but I think we’ll be able to see everything we want to see or at least enough to have a fun time! Yeah the more iretreat updates speakers/agenda the more excited I get plus I’ve been dying to go to hershey park so win-win!
