I used to be an avid reader….way before the internet and smartphones were around to distract me 24/7 oh yeah and when my Mom was allowed to limit my screen time (thanks MOM!). Now I get so distracted by the awesome people of the internet and blogs I rarely read books. I think last year I read maybe two books other than school stuff (yeah that is really pathetic I know!!)
I do read over 100 blogs pretty regularly on and off though….and I read stuff on my computer and at work…so it’s not like I’m NEVER reading. Oh adult life is hard and draining.
Anyway Liesl and the girls of #CathSorority decided to host this awesome link-up of 5 BOOKS we’re going to read in 2014 and I decided it was a good idea and maybe it’ll keep me accountable for actually reading the books if I write them down (they say if you write something down there is a 1000% more likely chance it’ll get done). So here are my 5 books for 2014!
Sisterhood Everlasting (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants)
I LOVED all the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books when I was in high school and I loved the movies just as much. It firs sparked my desire to go to Greece. This is my first assignment for the year. My mom attempted to buy this for my nook when it first came out about 3 years ago but she bought it for HER NOOK and it wasn’t a lendable book and we couldn’t figure out how to get it into my account so she read it and raved how good it was and I never got to read it! I was talking to a friend and she offered to mail it to me so I need to read it so I can send it back to her!
Style, Sex, and Substance: 10 Catholic Women Consider the Things that Really Matter
I know I am WAY behind on the boat with this one but I have been dying to read this book since it came out almost 2 years ago and never got around to purchasing a copy. My mom was looking to do a book study and I kept telling her to do this book because I’m sure it’s awesome (plus it has discussion questions at the end of the chapters) and she never really took me up on it…she did however take that to mean that I really wanted to read it as she bought me a copy for Christmas. So now I have no excuses not to read this book and it WILL get done this year!!
I’ve heard great things about this book. I have two extra copies of this book that I will be giving away on my blog. So if you don’t have this book I’ll be giving two copies away in a few weeks!!!
Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies
I received this book at the Allume conference I attended and it looks like an awesome book. Yes I’m not a Mom but if you saw the state of my room somedays it would probably scare most people. I used to praise myself as this SUPER ORGANIZED person and the last few years I have no idea where that person went. I’m hoping this book helps me become that organized person again and get better at life in general. I also think this book is going to help me prioritize my life and help my screen time and insomnia as well. Also if you are a booksneeze reviewer this book is currently available to review!
Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption
This is another book I received from the Allume conference. It looks like a great read and sounds like something I’ve thought about doing but never had the guts to do so. It’s about a girl that went on a mission trip to Uganda and it changed her life. After she graduated high school she went back and is now a missionary in Uganda.
To help me track my book goals I have also created a Pinterest Board to pin photos of all the books I have read so far this year. Hopefully it won’t stay empty all year. What books do you want to read in 2014?
Rome Sweet Home is fabulous – one of my reads going on my Best of 2013 list that I’m typing up tonight. Sex, Style, and Substance will probably be added to my list for this year. You’re brilliant for only aiming for 5. I always try for way too many and then I’m disappointed that I fail so miserably.

I really enjoyed Rome Sweet Rome when I read it before converting. 🙂
I have a shelf on Goodreads of the books I’d like to get to this year: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/797424?shelf=2014-tbr
They’re books I’ve been meaning to read for a long time, so hopefully now is the year!

Perhaps my list is too ambitious and I should have kept it to five like yours. I hope you meet your goals!

LOL I was trying to keep my list simple so that it would actually get done! We’ll see what happens…
