Welcome to the 8th day of WORDLESS ADVENT! I hope everyone is having a wonderful advent as a time of waiting and prayer. Today is the First day of the Second Week of Advent. Today we lit a new purple candle π
In case you didn’t know each of the 4 candles represent something different.
The First Purple Candle: HOPE
The Second Purple Candle: PEACE
The PINK Candle: JOY
The Last Purple Candle: LOVE (the best gift of all)
Here is today’s WORDLESS ADVENT GIFT:
I thought this image was very christmassy and happy π
Day 4: Does your family have any traditions?
My family has a TON of Christmas Traditions. Since we are Italian we have a lot of old traditions that we try to uphold during the Christmas Season. A lot of people sometimes think they are strange or ask why do you go through all that work/trouble. But we feel it’s important to keep the traditions going for our family and the generations to come.
Some of our traditions are we have 7 OR 12 different dishes of fish for Christmas EVE. To represent the 7 sacraments or the 12 apostles take your pick. We don’t always do this but we try to when the budget allows. Sometimes if it’s just the 3 of us we will only have 1 or 2 fish dishes to make us feel we are participating in the tradition.
Another tradition about food is we make butter cookies and Italian Cookies. We have a whole cookbook with our christmas desserts. The butter cookies are really fun to make because we use a “cookie gun” and what is not fun about using a gun? haha
The last food related tradition we have is we make home made raviolis for Christmas dinner. Everyone says you can just buy them in the store but these raviolis are 10 TIMES better than what you buy in the grocery store. On top of that they are usually bigger you can only eat 4 and then your full. Bad thing if your not careful they can break when you cook them but they are still good. I guess it shows we like to eat since all the traditions I can think of are about food π
