Tomorrow we are having a QR Scavenger hunt for our confirmation and RCIA for Children students. Last Saturday my mom and I did a walk through and it actually worked! Walk throughs are the smartest thing ever because it was way too windy for some of the things we’re doing and we changed some of the stations. I hope it goes well because I already have a lot of good ideas if it goes well and are able to do it next year and hopefully invite more parishioners or other parishes.
Over the weekend one of my twitter followers was tweeting all different organization pinterest pins and I started looking at them. Then I was browsing what I already pinned on my Organization board and found this lovely pin:
After I saw it I had it sent to office max to print on 11×17 paper and I now have it hanging at work! At work we write our own priority lists. Basically the 6 things we are going to accomplish that day. I like this version better b/c I can just throw away the post-it note and move the post-its around as I get new tasks and finish tasks. My old version I was constantly scribbling all over it and rewriting tasks.
Another work related take starting next week for 2 weeks we have to write down every single task we do and how long it takes. We’ve never had to do this before and it’s probably going to be good but man it sounds REALLY overwhelming. According to my twitter followers this is something that is pretty normal in most offices. Maybe this is why our work processes are so messed up. According to my boss when the two weeks are up we’re going to have had SO much fun we wont’ want to stop….yeah I really doubt that haha
The last few weeks I’ve been sharing a fun tech tool or app in one of my quicktakes. I think I’m going to make that a regular feature (for now).
Earlier this week @WhatevWorksMom tweeted asking people what they use to read blogs and RSS subscriptions. Not giving it much thought I like everyone else said we used Google Reader or other lame readers that all basically do the same thing. Then last night I was going through my iphone apps and I came across this app I had to take off for more space: Flipboard. It makes reading blogs, twitter, facebook feeds like you’re reading a book or a magazine!! It is a really neat app. What I have found is that it will capture different tweets or facebook news a little differently and sometimes things I have missed stand out more. I really like it for reading blogs it makes it easier and not as overwhelming. It is available for both apple and android devices 🙂
Next weekend when we go to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival we found a deal and are actually staying on disney property since we will be eating at Epcot most of the weekend. Today I got MICKEY MAIL or well Toy Story Mail about our upcoming trip! It is so cute it is a little book all about our trip personalized for us and everything.
Alright I’m all out of ideas this week so here are some pinterest funnies:
This is SO TRUE! I do dataentry at work and this happens to me ALL-THE-TIME!!
Have a great weekend!! For more Quick Takes, visit Conversion Diary!
Yup. My husband works n software engineering, and they have to document every fifteen minute increment on their time sheet. Good luck with it.
#3 I’ve only ever known of one other person whose job made them do that, but the idea of it infuriates me! First of all, how much time is wasted in the week just filling out the stupid sheet? Second of all, adults should be treated like adults who can manage their time OR they shouldn’t be in that job. You can see I feel strongly about this lol. Hopefully it isn’t too bad! My boss is like “Whatever….. as long as you get your work done.”.
Thankfully for now we only have to do it for 2 weeks. We are doing an organizational assessment/capacity training and trying to find patterns of behaviors they can fix. But I agree I should put on my sheet 2 minutes every time I have to fill the stupid thing out!
I totally hate when people call me. I agree haha.
I think a dry erase board would work too for that goals thing!
Me 2! 90% of the time someone calls me and then I text them back! HAHA oooh I didn’t think about a dry erase board…that would work too!
I love that sticky note goals list! I think I’m going to get one made too!
Thanks! I have only been using it for a few days and love it already. It’s much neater than crossing things off a list I just throw the sticky note away 🙂
